Cruise Ships, Host Program, and Volunteers

If a community is judged by its hospitality, Downtown Santa Barbara shines. Our experienced group of friendly and knowledgeable volunteers serve as visitor-oriented “faces” of the Downtown community, ready to meet, greet and share downtown information in two ways: as Downtown Hosts and as Cruise Ship Ambassadors.

Downtown Hosts - Riding MIKE the Bike!

You can find our Downtown Hosts biking around downtown on our Mobile Information Kiosk Explorer (MIKE the Bike), or placed at popular destinations such as The Courthouse, Paseo Nuevo, La Arcada Court, and the Dolphin Fountain, among with many other locations.

Come enjoy a game of cornhole, every weekend in Storke Placita!

Volunteer

Downtown Santa Barbara is always looking for energetic, friendly volunteers to staff the Downtown Host Program and serve as Cruise Ship Ambassadors. Hosts are needed Saturday and Sundays – May 28th to September 5th. Sign up for one day or the whole weekend! The location is the Paseo Nuevo Mall entrance at State & De la Guerra Streets, with a table equipped with chairs, an umbrella and information to pass out. We ask volunteers to commit to a 2-hour shift from either 12:00-2:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm. Everyone is welcome to do a 4-hour shift. Cruise Ship Ambassadors, our top-notch team welcoming arriving cruise ships (up to 30 per year), direct passengers to discover Downtown Santa Barbara’s shopping, dining, and cultural venues. Register here, to begin signing up for shifts: www.shiftboard.com.
