The Transit Center is the hub of the Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District (MTD) system and is located at 1020 Chapala Street in downtown Santa Barbara. More than 10,000 passengers use this facility every day. The mission of MTD is to enhance the personal mobility of South Coast residents and visitors by offering safe, clean, reliable, courteous, accessible, environmentally responsible, and cost-effective transit service. Downtown and Waterfront Shuttles

Due to service reductions related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, service on this line is suspended.

MTD's Downtown & Waterfront electric-powered Shuttles are sponsored by the City of Santa Barbara to provide frequent shuttle service along busy State Street and the Waterfront area. At just 50 Cents a ride you can hop on and off to quickly get anywhere downtown. Transfers are required for connecting between the Downtown and Waterfront shuttles. As you board your first shuttle, ask the driver for a FREE shuttle transfer. Shuttle transfers are not valid on other MTD routes.
