Pascucci to Host Summer Solstice Fundraiser May 8

Release Date: April 21,2019

The 2019 Summer Solstice Celebration kick-off fundraiser is planned for 5 to 10 p.m. May 8 at Pascucci, 729 State St. The theme for the evening is “Wonder.”

Laura Knight, Pascucci owner and Solstice board member, again turns over her restaurant to Solstice volunteers for an entire evening, except for those in the kitchen, which is staffed by professionals.

Costume-clad celebrities and Solstice volunteers act as hosts, servers, bartenders and drink runners. Proceeds support the 45th annual Solstice parade and festival from June 21 to 23. Parade starts at noon June 22 at the corner of State and Cota streets.

“We are still looking for volunteers to be waiters, bussers, dressed in costume for this event,” sad Solstice Executive Director Robin Elander.  “You can contact Penny at artstaff@solsticeparade.com for more information and to volunteer.”

She said volunteers can get involved in Summer Solstice in many ways.  “There are still opportunities for vendors; please contact our vendor coordinator via email:  vendors@solsticeparade.com,” Elander said.

The Solstice workshop will open in early May, Elander said. “So now is a good time to begin thinking about your costume, mask, or ensemble and float ideas for the parade, and be involved in this amazing community event,” she said.
