Israel Vibration is one of reggae’s most respected harmony groups, formed in Kingston, Jamaica in the 1970s by Lacelle “Wiss” Bulgin, Cecil “Skelly” Spence, and Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig. All three met while recovering from polio at a rehabilitation center, a shared experience that deeply shaped both their bond and their music.
Rooted in classic roots reggae, Israel Vibration is known for its rich three-part vocal harmonies and spiritually conscious lyrics centered on resilience, faith, and social justice. Their breakthrough came with albums like The Same Song and Why You So Craven, recorded with legendary producer Tommy Cowan and backed by the Roots Radics.
Over decades, the group evolved through lineup changes following Apple Gabriel’s departure and later passing, but Wiss and Skelly carried the legacy forward with a steady stream of albums and global touring. Their sound remains unmistakable - warm, meditative, and deeply rooted in Rastafarian philosophy - earning them a lasting place in reggae history alongside acts like Bob Marley & The Wailers and Burning Spear.
Even today, Israel Vibration continues to tour and connect with audiences worldwide, representing endurance not just as a theme in their music, but as their lived reality.
