Thru-hiking the AZT, Arizona's 800-mile traverse from Mexico to Utah with Diane Soini

Thursday, July 16, 6:30pm
Faulkner Gallery – Santa Barbara Public Library
40 East Anapamu St., Santa Barbara, CA

The Arizona Trail is a well-marked, well-supported, continuous trail that runs from the Mexican border to the Utah border. It provides a beautiful, accessible alternative for great shoulder season hiking in the fall and early spring. The southern and central section links the Sky Islands of Arizona allowing you to see every climate zone from Sonoran Desert to snowy pine forests. The northern section of the trail is a high elevation plateau that takes you through America's largest contiguous Ponderosa pine forest and crosses the Grand Canyon. The northern terminus is at Stateline Campground on the Utah border near the Wave and Buckskin Gulch. This presentation will show you what the trail is like and include tips and insights so you can plan a hike on the Arizona Trail.
