Lecture with Professor Luke Roberts: Japanese Suit of Armor with Two Family Crests

Luke Roberts, Professor of Japanese History at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will present a lecture on the newly displayed promised gift of a Japanese suit of armor and the stories of Yūki Hideyasu, the man said to be its owner. He was the eldest surviving son of Tokugawa Ieyasu, the ruler of Japan from 1600, but through quirks of fate never became heir, and the armor provides hints as to why.
