Give the gift of life this holiday season! Community Environmental Council (CEC) is partnering with Vitalant, one of the nation’s largest independent, nonprofit blood and biotherapies organizations, to host our second community blood drive. After a strong turnout at our first drive, we’re aiming to collect 15 donations again this time. Blood donations help patients facing surgery, cancer treatment, trauma, and other medical needs, and every donation makes a real difference for people in our community. When you sign up, you can choose between two donation types: whole blood or Power Red. Power Red donations collect concentrated red blood cells while returning plasma and platelets to the donor, and each one counts as two units toward our community goal. Power Red takes about 15 minutes longer than a whole blood donation, includes hydration through a saline drip, and is especially encouraged for donors with blood types O-, O+, A-, or B-.
