Seimandi & Leprieur, the French contemporary art gallery tucked into downtown Santa Barbara just steps from the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, will host an Artist Talk with painter Cynthia James on Sunday, April 12 at 4 PM.
The conversation takes place within the gallery’s fourth exhibition, Shapes of Surrealism, which brings together six contemporary artists exploring surrealism as a living, evolving field of perception. Through automatic drawing, illusionistic imagery, and imagined botanical worlds, the exhibition evokes shifting inner landscapes where reality quietly slips out of focus.
During the talk, Cynthia James will reflect on the luminous vegetal universes that inhabit her paintings, sharing insights into her creative process and the inspirations that shape her work.
