Ground has officially been broken on Santa Barbara’s new $96 million, state-of-the-art police headquarters. This 65,000-square-foot, three-story facility will consolidate the entire police force—currently spread across four separate locations—into a single, modern hub. Designed to replace the outdated 1959 Figueroa Street station, the new building features a 911 Public Safety Dispatch Center, a forensics laboratory, a community room, and an indoor shooting range. Sustainability is a core component of the design, which includes a large solar and battery array. Funded by Measure C sales tax revenues, the project is scheduled for completion in Spring 2027 and is expected to significantly improve public access to services while bolstering department recruitment and retention.
