Maggie Campbell, executive director of the Downtown Organization of Santa Barbara, resigned from her position effective Jan 9.

“I am so honored to have served as executive director of this incredible organization and look forward to following its future progress,” Campbell said in a news release. “I want to express gratitude and thanks to all of the businesses and community members, volunteers, property owners and civic partners that have been supporting our efforts over the last three and a half years.”

Campbell became executive director in May of 2014. She leaves the organization on track to meet budget goals for 2018, according to the news release. No reason was given for her departure.

“Under Maggie’s leadership, existing programs have been expanded, our fundraising efforts have grown, and Downtown Santa Barbara’s signature events have been reimagined and improved,” said Downtown Organization Board President Matt LaBrie in the news release. “Our management team became stronger, and as a result the organization is more relevant today, with strong funding and community partnerships that we all expect will continue. We wish Maggie the best in her future endeavors.”

LaBrie said the board will appoint a search committee to hire a new executive director.
