On the heels of last year’s record breaking success with Les Miserables, The Adderley Conservatory, Santa Barbara’s preeminent Musical Theater program for youth and teens, ages 4-18, brings West Side Story to The Lobero on May 4th and 5th! In its 13th outstanding season on stage at The Lobero, THE ADDERLEY SCHOOL’S Conservatory is thrilled to honor the 100th birthdays of two artistic giants – Leonard Bernstein and Jerome Robbins – the creative masterminds behind this groundbreaking, timeless, heart wrenching, transformative Broadway classic. With a revival scheduled on Broadway and Steven Spielberg’s movie remake out in 2019, the Adderley Conservatory graciously joins the chorus of artists worldwide paying homage to this glorious musical. The tale of Romeo and Juliet set to the music of Stephen Sondheim and Leonard Bernstein is all the more poignant at a time in our nation when we need to find our way back to togetherness, mutual respect and love. Hearing the hauntingly beautiful melodies of “Somewhere”, “One Hand One Heart” , “Tonight” and “Maria” sung by the extraordinary voices of these impassioned students is an experience not to be missed !
